What Is Hoopabilitry?
hoopabilitry n., L -abilitas
player talent regardless
of height at any height
It takes more than this mouthful, "merit-other-than-height," to describe hoopability.
Labels like "raw skill" or "athleticism" are on the right track, but only the mouthful "merit-other-than-height" applies to every Short AND Tall squad placement. Players are Available for a squad in "Units" groups. With the amount of Units being common to all in each group, an individual player is always selected from among candidates of the same tallness. This leaves hoopabiliy (plus, possibly, attitude) as the sole criterion for selecting an individual at any height.
M eanwhie a coach, appreciating the inexorable advantage of height on the court, desires tallness. Units up to the allowed five are a coveted squad asset. Hoopabiliy (plus, again, attitude) determines choice of a tall individual within a 1 to 4 Units group.
Regard hoopability as a sum, starting with certain acquisitions bestowed at birth. Thereafter, with height developing steadily, hoopability is acquired and advanced at any time in life. Acquisitions are mounted on a "ladder," jumped by rungs or ascended in bunches.
The combination of selection by hoopabilitry and Short AND Tall's broadening of the player source assures high quality for the hoops game..
