WALL-MARKING GUIDELINE

Short AND Tall

FOUR UNIFORM, UNCLUTTERED MARKS Measure and mark four height levels. Add no information on wall. Players cooperate best at plain marks.

LEVELS FROM TALLNESS TABLE  See tallness tables in the Rules. Mark levels of units 3, 2, 1 and 0. No mark is required for 4 units - thar is the area above 3-unit mark.

PRECISION AT TOP PART OF EACH MARK Because exactly the top of each mark defines units, measure a few times, and ...

  1. Pencil a light dot for each measurement point.
  2. Select the best dot for each height, re-measuring as needed for accuracy.
  3. Holding a carpenter's level, finely draw a horizontal line (pinpoints the top of mark.)
  4. Using crayon, paint, pencil, pen, or tape, etc. fill an area beneath the line, for visibility.
  5. The thickness (area under the mark top) and mark length are up to you.

UNIQUE MARKS FOR THE AGE-GENDER   A partiicular four-mark set specifies each age-gender.

Player judged at wall. Zero units because head is below top of the lowest mark

TEST QUESTION IN JUDGING "Which is the lowest top-of-mark above the player's head?"

Fingers Illustrate Wall Marks and Units

Extending your fingers can illustrate how Short AND Tall counts player units for the even distribution of tallness advantage to squads.

Let each finger resemble a wall mark. View "0 Units" for the area beneath top line of the little finger, then 1, 2 and 3 Units below finger tops and a tallness of 4 Units above. A maximum of five tallness units is allowed to each squad.
