Short AND Tall

RULE 1 SQUAD FORMAT

The squad format size must always be exactly 10. This is a sum of actual players plus any supposed "vacancies" needed for the squad format size to equal the required standard of 10.

RULE 2JUDGING FOR AVAILABILITY

At four lines on a wall,, judge for height units of taller players, standing upright and shoeless. Judge those who appear to be taller than the exact top of the lowest of the four marks. Assign zero units for player heights that are seen at a glance to fall beneath the lowest mark top. Verify at the wall once a season as needed. Judging units establishes Availability.

RULE 3TALLNESS ALLOWANCE

Five units is the uniform maximum distribution of tallness to a squad.

RULE 4 GAME LIST

A squad pre-game Game List shows that the combination of actual teammates plus any V's equals exactly 10 - the squad standard format size. The opposing coaches may exchange Game Lists to affirm that their squad's Tallness Units total to no more than five. The players, in lines of tallness facing talless, exchange "high fives."

4a  A squad with fewer than 10 players settles at halftime by granting the opposition one pair of free throws for each subtraction from the squad format of 10.

RULE 5 PARTICIPATION

Every game-non-starter is automatically placed on the squad's second-half opening lineup. The starters may then re-enter one player at a time.
